CHASE B HAISLIP

About Chase.

Chase Haislip (he/him) is a Southern writer, director, and producer based in New Orleans. His work explores class, identity, and generational legacy in the American South, often through the lens of complicated families and the hidden histories that shape rural communities.

Chase’s work has been featured the New Orleans Film Festival, Sidewalk Film Festival, and Macon Film Festival, among others. His feature script, Queen Hereafter, about legacies of violence in the Alabama lumber industry, was selected for the 2024 Stowe Narrative Lab and is “Blacklist Recommended.” His feature script Houndstooth is also “Blacklist Recommended.”

He recently completed post-production for Company Man, a period short film about the Birmingham coal miners’ strikes of the early 1900s, shot entirely on location in Alabama.

Chase is a member of Filmshop - a nonprofit collective of indie filmmakers committed to developing new work through peer support and collaboration.

Chase is a devotee to the “Southern Canon,” and a believer that telling honest, authentic, original stories is the best way to understand the South.
